Join us this year as we embark on a truly fantastic adventure!  From the banks of the Mississippi to the halls of Harvard – we bring you two different shows each with their own unique story to tell. Both have one thing in common - that being true to one’s self never goes out of style! AND NOW just added for our young audience members, The Musical Adventures of Flat Stanley Jr. Read on…

Tom Sawyer Color Logo.tifThe Adventures of Tom Sawyer. This Broadway musical version of Mark Twain's immortal novel is set in 1840 in St. Petersburg, Missouri, a bustling town on the banks of the Mississippi River. As this fun-filled musical unfolds, we share with Tom and his friends all of the rollicking and heart-stopping adventures that we find in Twain’s masterpiece, whether it’s Tom tricking his friends into white-washing the fence, playing hooky from school, or getting lost in McDougal’s cave. This family show is filled with foot-stomping, toe-tapping songs that will introduce a whole new generation to Twain’s memorable characters. January 6 thru January 22, 2012.

A Holiday Message from
Founder and Artistic Director, Lori Stokes

November 2011

Dear StarStruck Friends,

Happy Holidays to you! We hope the past year has brought you much joy.

We know at StarStruck we are blessed everyday to be able to continue our mission of providing theatre of uncompromising quality to our young performers and to our audiences. We also know it is because of your support that we can! Thank you so much for your continued support over the past year.

StarStruck is a second home to all the young actors that come through our doors. When asked this past summer what StarStruck meant to them, the overwhelming response from the cast was “a family”, “a second home”, “a place I feel included”. StarStruck is also a place where great memories are made.

We’ve had many wonderful memories this past year. Who can forget little Gracie, who played Annie, singing her heart out during the song Tomorrow? She was only nine years old at the time, but her professionalism and heart proved to be way beyond her years. And the show sold out every performance!

This summer we not only produced our main stage show, Guys and Dolls, but also two camp productions. Our StarStruck Players production of Beauty and the Beast Jr. was performed in the Jackson Theatre to sold-out audiences. This talented group of kids ages 9-14, proved once again that great and meaningful theatre can be achieved no matter what the age. Our StarStruck Kids production of Aladdin Kids was also a family favorite. We are so excited to be teaching the next generation of young actors.

A personal highlight for me was watching the exciting “Crapshooter’s Dance” during Guys and Dolls. Who would have guessed that only a handful of the guys could actually dance when we started the rehearsal process? But after months of hard work, dedication, and commitment – they all had the audience believing that they had been dancing for years! And the critics raved, “a definite high stakes winner by the most hardworking young theatre troupe around. A high voltage, colorful, toe-tapping musical classic filled with vivid characters, oddball romance, and great numbers…it’s magic!”

We also continued our Theatre for the Schools program where 1600 students and teachers enjoyed our production of Annie. We were invited to sing at the Fremont Symphony Pops concert, and we kicked up our heels at our Annual Fundraiser held at The Saddle Rack. To finish off a great year, StarStruck was voted Best of the Best by Bay Area Parent Magazine and The Fremont Bulletin.

We look forward to a very exciting 2012 with our productions of The Adventures of Tom Sawyer in January, Legally Blonde The Musical in July/August, and perhaps a few more surprises along the way!

We invite you to make next year just as memorable as this year. With your generosity, we will continue to create the magic that has defined StarStruck for the past 16 years as we share the joy, love, and our passion for musical theatre with you and everyone who participates at StarStruck Theatre.

Happy Holidays!
