START - Student Training in the ARTS

START - Student Training in the ARTS - is a non-profit, tuition based teaching program for individuals interested in gaining and developing their skills in the performing arts.

Two ways to register for classes:

1. Download and complete the Class Registration Form and Medical Release Form and send them with payment in full to the StarStruck studio. Check or Credit Card info only! NO CASH!

2. Come to the studio during office hours (M, Tu, Th 11:00AM-3:00PM) to fill out the START Program Brochure, Medical Release Form and provide payment in full and leave them with our office manager Marilyn Williams. Cash, Check or Credit Card accepted.

Once we receive your enrollment materials, we will send a confirmation email. Once a class has met the minimum enrollment requirement, we will send an additional enrollment confirmation email.

Most classes will culminate in a sharing the final day of the course to present the work that has been created in the classes. This sharing is open to family and friends.

START Winter 2012 Classes

Fun with Acting (A Beginner's Acting Class)

Instructor: Heather Kellogg

Ages 6-8: Thursdays 3:30-4:30 pm (Mar 1 - Apr 26)

Ages 9-11:Thursdays 4:45-6:00pm (Mar 1 - Apr 26)

Fun With Acting will fire up the imagination and boost self-expression in a fun group atmosphere. Using improvisation, storytelling, and theatre games, students will learn how to use their bodies and voices to transform into a character, and how to create dramatic conflict and reach creative and entertaining solutions. This session will end with a short presentation for parents and friends. (Minimum enrollment 8, maximum 20)


Acting Out (For Intermediate Actors)
Prior experience or teacher approval required

Instructor: Daniel Harper

Ages 10 -14: Wednesdays 4:30-5:30pm (Feb 29 - Apr 25)

This fun, high energy course allows your young artist to explore the tools that every actor needs to be comfortable on the stage. This class will focus on acting and theatre games, improvisation, audition techniques, stage magic tricks, and stage stunt work. Acting out is a wonderful way to build confidence through a fun theatrical journey. This class is designed for returning students only (or with teacher approval).


Group Singing/Voice

Disney Spectacular Enter the magical kingdom where elephants fly, chimney sweeps dance and every wish comes true… welcome to the Happiest Show on Earth! This revue in four sections includes Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah, How D’Ye Do and Shake Hands, Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo, I’ve Got No Strings, Feed the Birds, Chim Chim Cheeree, Step in Time, A Spoonful of Sugar, Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious and many more!  This class is designed for beginning to intermediate performers to experience the joys of singing in a group!  We will focus on basic vocal techniques and musicality skills, including: breathing, sight singing, and harmony. Our studies will culminate in an informal recital on the last day of class.  (Minimum enrollment 8, maximum 20)

From Wicked To Godspell Celebrate the music of Stephen Schwartz with this wonderful fifteen-minute revue! It features songs from Godspell, Hunchback of Notre Dame, Pocahontas, Wicked and others! This class is designed for beginning to intermediate performers to experience the joys of singing in a group!  We will focus on basic vocal techniques and musicality skills, including: breathing, sight singing, and harmony. Beginning Musical Theatre Dance

This class is designed for the performer who wants to learn the basics of musical theatre dance.  Young dancers will learn the basic steps most commonly used in a musical theatre production. Join in on the fun with Mr. Dan!
